Lauren (Emerson) Grieder is a staff physical therapist and coordinator of clinical education at Premier Physical Therapy and Sports Performance. A graduate of Middletown High School and the daughter of two native Middletowneans, Ed and Ginny (Faulkner) Emerson, Grieder returned to develop her career and serve her hometown following completion of her physical therapy degree.
Grieder holds both a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Bachelors of Arts in Biological Sciences from the University of Delaware, whose graduate school of physical therapy is rated second in the nation by U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Graduate Schools." During her years of clinical practice, she has enjoyed treating orthopedic and sports injuries for patients of all ages and backgrounds.
An area of focus for Grieder has been the development of a strong relationship with the University of Delaware in the area of clinical education. In her time at Premier, she has coordinated and supervised three to four doctor of physical therapy students per year as they complete full time clinical rotations. Her efforts were previously recognized when she received the Catherine Dozer Kohlenstein Award for outstanding contributions in the clinical education of University of Delaware students in January 2010.
Grieder's future career goals include continued development of the clinical education program at Premier, becoming recognized as board certified in orthopaedics and sports physical therapy, and pursuing continuing education courses to further her knowledge in treatment of the spine.
Grieder lives with her husband, Jeff, and daughter, Caroline, in Chadds Ford, PA. She enjoys jogging and competing recreationally in road races.
